The Nail Bar, which is the brainchild of co-owners Cathy Campbell and Melissa Harrison, recently celebrated its second year of operation on Oct. 8 of this year.
Campbell and Harrison worked together at a nail salon, and in 2013, they went into business for themselves. Though The Nail Bar has not been open for very long, it has already established itself as a prolific Jackson business.
"We had a lady whose nails we did until she reached the age of 100, " Campbell says. "That was quite a milestone. She would come in and get her pedicure and, when she'd get through, she'd get up and do the pedicure dance. She was holding on to that walker, and she'd just dance. She was fabulous."

Campbell says that she and Harrison strive to make clients feel as if The Nail Bar is a place in which they can feel comfortable and at home. "We genuinely just love each other, " Campbell says, "so it's not like going to work each day. It's more like going and being with friends."

Walker, a 39-year-old Jackson resident, first became interested in doing nails while an uncle who worked in the business in California visited her. She graduated from Warson Woods College of Cosmetology in 1997, and after taking a break from cosmetology, she began working at Nail Gallery. After 10 years, the salon decided to relocate, but the business closed shortly after that. Walker opened Cuticles Nail Studio in Nail Gallery's former space in 2013.

Cuticles offers manicures and pedicures, waxing services for brows and lips, and, Walker says, depending on the level of difficulty, she can create custom colors and simple designs for nails. While it may be pricier than some of the other local salons, Walker knows that the price is worth the service. With Cuticles, her clients grow stronger nails, which is why they keep coming back.

This is by far THEE BEST nail salon I've ever been to. We know going to a new nail salon is like guys going to a new barber. It's what we as women do when we've found a good place to settle. I've always been loyal to places of business that treat me right. Today (May 29, 2020) was my first time visiting g Nancy's Nail Spa. Ladies (&& Gents) this place is GREAT! I got a mani and Pedi (Mrs. A) && she took her absolute time on me. My hands and feet felt like I had been walking on cement for years. I left there today feeling like a WOMAN. My hands look great, my feet feel and look great! They have just gained a LOYAL and regular customer simply because they took their time to get me right. I love places like that and it shows that they love what they do. They interacted with other customers && it didn't just feel like they were there to JUST DO THEIR JOB. I HIGHLY recommend this place. My masseuse, Kathy, did a phenomenal job. Possibly one of the best massages I’ve ever had! She’s really personable and the atmosphere was perfect. I highly recommend getting a massage here. Always a good time. My husband gets his feet done, bc I don't do feet. I am always overjoyed by my nails when I leave. My teenager and 8 and 5 year old are always happy when they are able to get a mani-pedi.

Great service, fast, friendly & professional. My 4yr niece & i have been coming for a while. She won't let anyone else touch her nails or toes. They wax eyebrows the right way. Mines come out perfectly even everytime!! They close at 7 but if you are coming & its close to 7, just call and let them know. They'll wait for you. Strongly recommend these guys. Always nice and welcoming. I get my eyebrows done every 2 weeks and they always do great. Wife get her nails done and she is always happy. Plus they are open on Sunday. Myia and Don are the best!! Myia keep my nails popping, and they never disappoint me!! I get so many compliments on my nails every time!! Everyone is the shop is very friendly! I love it here.
